Maggie - My reining mare - video

So final I got some stopping footage. It's not good, she's way more high powered than I'm used to and its outside my comfort zone. So it'll take some time getting used too. This was my first time really stopping her, only other time I stopped her was twice when we were trying her out.

The spinning and stopping footage is at the end of the video =) (I think if you go to about 2:40 you'll get to the turning around and then stopping - incase you don't want to watch the circles)

Let me know what you think about her. (I just got her in October, and due to Univeristy haven't really ridden her - I haven't ridden her since December)

Excuse my riding, I haven't really ridden since December and I'm kind of moving around a lot more than I would like. I feel so rusty its gross lol.

She's so much fun, I love her can't wait to show her. She tries really hard.

I like her a lot, she looks like she has lots of potential.

I think your dragon needs to re start her fire.

She is looking very good. Her stops will come with some more speed once you get more comfortable. I also like to when I stop at times turn them once time each directions. This helps keep them off their front end and light on their feet and keep them moving through the stop.

Lol Thanks!! A lot of it is my timing being off too I think. Like I watched the videos and was like wow she was just driving to the stops. But I felt a little wild. I need to get more confidence in her and perfect my time. That'll only come with time in the saddle though.

I did do that in some of my stops - not the ones I posted. It definitely helps keep them loose in the shoulders. I find she likes to be on her forehand al ittle bit at times.

I'm excited for her, and my trainer said he has no sympathy for me feeling out of my comfort zone because I wanted to step up and get better so I have to deal with it haha. I feel great circling her and turning her around (even though I'm a little rusty) definitely need more work on the stops before we're ready to show. But still time for that :)
