Need Help From Saddle Gurus
I found this saddle in my local classifieds, they are only asking $50.00 for it. Any thoughts on the brand or if it would make a good restoration project? This is the only pic available of it right now.
That looks like an old ranch saddle. Very cool. Probably would really look nice fixed up, if you have the will and the way.
I think I'm going to go take a look at it to see what condition it's in, doesn't look too bad from the pic. It would give me a nice project I think.
It depends on how wide/narrow the tree. The composition of the tree might be interesting, bare wood or rawhide wrapped. If the tree isn't in good shape the saddle really has no value except perhaps as a practise piece. I'd love to see more pics. and one of the underside (fleece or lack of)
I love vintage saddles even if only for decoration, will get pics when I go look at it
That is a gorgeous old high back saddle. If you decide you don't want it, you should send it to me. I also love antique saddles. My oldest one right now is a 1940 JC Higgins. I love getting them all shined up and pretty again and sending them off to a new home to be appreciated.
I kept my two favorites so far though. My other one is a Red Ranger. Please update with more pics!
It seems more suitable for a decorative item
The leather looks dry and is coming apart in a few places - and that is what you can see from one picture. I would pass on the saddle unless you wanted it for decoration.
