Fatten a under nourished horse?
Hi, pretty urgent! Just found these 4 horses locked up, we're in Spain.. everything' legal basically. Anyway, one of the horses is really under weight, any good ideas on how to fatten this gal up fast?? We haven't really got to much money to spend either... would love some help, and maybe some ideas on how to install water in there! thanks!

It is better to put weight on slowly but steadily. Start by increasing the amount they are fed for one, beet pulp and brewers yeast help TONS.

Cheap and easy way to do it...vegetable oil to their feed. Add one fourth a cup then gradually build to a full cup to each feeding. You'll see weight gain within a couple of weeks.

The oil matter is really good for weight gain. I would build it up to 3 cups a day if major weight gain is in need.
Another point is protein supplement. A good and not expensive sourse for protein is soy bean. 1-2 table spoons per serving will help him build muscle and hair.
Hope this will help

Depending on how malnourished the horse is, I would consider getting a vet out. You have to be careful with what kind of feed you expose them to. Sometimes feeding them certain feeds to soon, or to much for their current health and body condition can lead them to colic.
I would get a vet out and tell you in detail what kind of diet regiment he/she can get on to fill in.
