Large Growth on Mare's Tooth
Hi! I'm new to the forum, but I needed some advice.
I went to bridle my mare today and I noticed what looked like a large round stone in her mouth, on her lower jaw. I pulled on it and it was stuck, I pulled harder and it came out. It does feel like a bone, or rock, the first thing I thought was a LARGE calcium deposit. Underneath is a canine tooth (she does not have one on the other side). She does not seem to be in pain, but the tooth looks a little irritated now (I guess because I've been messing with it).
What do you think? I would appreciate any info!
Do you have any pictures? Not all mares have canine teeth, but I'm assuming you're right and it is a canine. Horses do tend to get a bunch of nasty junk caught on their canines, that needs to be scraped off occasionally...
