favorite HEALTHY treats? That don't go bad like carrots and apples.
Hi, I've become somewhat of a nutrition freak with my horse. He is fed Buckeye's Gro'n Win, 1.25lbs daily as well as a pound of vitaferm split into am and pm feedings.
I'm looking for some healthy treats low in starches/sugars that hopefully don't cost an arm and a leg. The boyfriend likes giving him lots of treats as does his mother when she visits and I don't want him getting an obscene amount of candy and peppermints because of the sugars. I'm looking for a yummy healthy treat I can tell her to break into pieces and feed. Thanks!

I use alfalfa cubes or a feed called Dynasty Pride from Kent it is a chunk about the size of your thumb and cost about $14 per 50 lbs

Yep, I use alfalfa cubes. Some horses need them soaked, though, so if he seems to be having trouble with it, consider soaking it.
