Mini conformation crit :D
This looks like fun, and as I just got the pics in for my horses registration application I thought this would be a good time for you guys to tear her up! She will be 2 on April 26th.
Problems I know she has : She's fat. She's cow-hocked. She's seriously hairy.
Other than that go to town! My feelings won't be hurt. She cost me $400 and she was out of not-so-stellar stock. I know she's not top notch but I love her anyhow! :) Also, if any part of her conformation can be corrected/greatly improved through exercise let me know! I'd love to really improve her overall and I'm open to suggestions!
It's so hard with minis. They're all stubby to me ha ha
Very cute girl tho!
She is cowhocked and not sure if it's just the way she is standing, but appears a little stretched out in the back as well.
She is chubby, so her bum look tiny but other than that i think she looks nice.
Poor baby was born even more cow-hocked than she is now. It got a little straighter when she started to grow into herself. I promise she's not as fat now that most of that fur is gone ;) (still fat though)
Thanks! It's always helpful to have a second or third eye when you start to look at your horse more closely.
Losing a considerable amount of weight would do her a world of good.
Besides the already-mentioned issues, she has a very short, thick neck and a steep, apple-bottomed croup. What do you plan to do with her?
Well my friend here is a mini expert/pro bredder and heres what she has to say :) :
She pretty fat.
She's in a 'mini' stance which makes it hard to judge her back legs.
Her pastern angles might be slightly to steep. (which proper trimming can fix)
You should ask for critique when she has lost weight because then we can judge her better.
She needs to loose her big underneck or else it is harder for her to collect.... which can be lost through proper conditioning ect. I have a pony with a similar sitiuation... :)
Yes, she is very fat. She is on all hay right now and it makes her balloon because if I only feed what she needs, she gets bored and ruins trees and bites dogs lol. She's going into training and when she gets toned up I plan to repost so I really look forward to your friends thoughts then!
She does have a big underneck now. Ever since she turned 1 she's been a TOTAL BRAT and likes to pull and rear and all that crap that young horses do when they know better.
Her back feet are a little hard to trim. Her toe is naturally long and it does not want to get any shorter. Her front feet are very upright and if you try and leave them at a better angle they break until they are short and upright again o.o We're trying to get that fixed though.
Thank you again, I'm glad somebody else replied :)
No problemo ;)
