Purina Strategy or Nutrena Safe Choice
If this has already been discussed, please forgive me and point me in the right direction.

I currently feed Purina Strategy to my APHA and AQHA geldings. I am considering a switch to Nutrena Safe Choice. They are both easy keepers.
Looking for info from anyone who has used both.

I'm not a fan of either but if I had to choose I would pic purina.

I feed Purina Strategy to my horses that are working hard and I like to see more weight on, and Purina Strategy Healthy Edge to those that are just doodling around the pasture. I run my boys on a nice, healthy pasture, so grain isn't really needed unless their working.

I didn't see as much weight gain on Healthy Edge as I did regular. For example, Divo had a crestier neck and bigger build on Strategy, but maintained a good weight but nothing excess on Healthy Edge.

Never tried the other one you mentioned :)

Iam not a fan of any of purinas feeds safe choice isnt good iv used it and my horses looked like crap dull coats and weight lose. Never have used strategy iv heard its like a sweet feed so i wont feed that kind of feed to my horses. Why dont you go to a ration balancer like Triple Crown 30% purina has a RB its called Enrich 32 that would be a better choice the safe choice or strategy.

I have used both with good results. They are similar. I wanted to try Strategy again but it is not sold with in a close distance in my area.

If they're easy keepers, you're better off feeding Purina Enrich 32. You only feed 1-2 lbs a day per-horse for full nutrition. That said, I am not a fan of either Purina or Nutrena feeds. If you can get them, Triple Crown's Lite or 30% Supplement, Buckeye's Gro-n-Win, or Progressive's Grass Balancer are all better choices as far as quality and nutrition. TC's Lite you feed 3-4 lbs a day. The rest are all 1-2 lbs a day for full nutrition.

Well, I feed Safe Choice and Omolene 200 and my sister feeds Strategy and Omolene's a debate at my house. I think both are good feeds though. Nikki just seems to do better with the Safe Choice..Hikory gets the Nutrena Senior and it works well for him..I don't really have a preference between Nutrena and Purina. I've had good results with both..Sorry I feel like I'm no help!! My over all opinion is which ever works for your horse. One feed may be good for one but bad for the other..

I seriously dislike Safe Choice. I have seen several horses on it and each of them did poorly. I know that some horses do well on it, obviously if every horse did poorly on it they would pull it from the market, but personally I will never feed it to my horses.
I like Strategy, but I agree that if they are easy keepers you may as well just feed Enrich 32. My mini is on that and doing well, and my vet reccomends it all the time for easy keeper horses.

I thought I'd try SC because it is much cheaper but mine wouldn't eat it. I feed Strategy GX and Purina Ultium Growth and have had good results with both. I prefer triple crown but the nearest dealer is over 100 miles away.

I am not a fan of either. I prefer Total Equine as the best choice for all horses.
