Losing to much hair from shedding
My horse Teddybear is massavily shedding out her winter coat.
I know this is normal so I'm not really worried about that.
My problem is that she is losing to much winter fur on some areas of her coat. The areas of her body that have lost to much winter fur has barely anyhair and you can see the skin a little.
This might be her either itching herself or rubbing up against something.
My question is how do I prevent this? How long will it take to grow back?

It's normal. My mare sheds in patches. She looks mangy, but I can't do anything about it. I groom her everyday to help shed her coat. And if she's rubbing it's because it feels good and her hair is bothering her. Try grooming her more so that she doesn't rub herself raw. :)
It's totally normal, my horse didn't get the memo that your supposed to leave some hair behind and she has some bald patches.
Hmm... My Arab sheds his winter coat in patches too but the patches always have new hair in, so he has patches of winter coat and patches of a new gleaming red summer coat.
Patchy shedding with baldness can be a sign that your horse isn't receiving adequate vitamins and minerals especially A, D and E. I started supplementing a few of the horses that don't get a lot of grain. It really helps the shedding become more even.
