Sunburn Blisters

My horse is kept in the stall during the day but his muzzle stays pink, wrinkled, and blistered. Some of it might be from last summer and winter when he wasn't kept in a stall. I put suscreen on him any time I ride in the sun, but I can't seem to get the blisters and wrinkles to go away. This is not good because I actively show him.

Any advice at all is appreciated :)

Desitin (or the off brand) his nose and put a long nosed flymask on him that covers his nose like a cashel. Leave it on anytime the sun is out. I left my blue eyed bald faced paints on 24-7 and just washed the extra one replacing it every few days or so. He will heal if you protect hs nose.

I'd use a long fly mask and apply a gentle moisturising cream ie sudocream.

Yeah I have a long fly mask, can I ride him in it?

We have a gelding with a bald face, and we actually attached a fly mask type thing to his bridle. (he's blue eye'd also, so we make sure we give him the best protection possible) That combined with some roll-on sunscreen on really sunny days, and he's never had a problem. I'm including some pictures to show you what it looks like.

swat... yes the stuff for bugs. It's great! my mare burns really easy. I just put in on in the morning and whala! it even helps to sofen the scabs.

You could also try rubbing Vitamin E cream onto it, it is really soothing on a burn and wrinking skin.

Yea you can ride in the fly mask. It is no big deal. I ride my horse in his fly mask with nose all the time. When my horse got sunburn it took a LONG time for his muzzle to return back to normal.
