I need help about bathing

I've had Sienna 3 years and she's never had a bath. At her other barn I took the hose and worked on her front legs a little, and neck, then took it away, etc. But there was no where to tie up and it was very close to an electric fence. So I never did a lot with it. At her new barn the have one of those things (I call it a car wash, LOL, I don't get around much) that is concrete and has cross ties in it so you can use warm water. The guy that works there said horses like it better than getting hut with cold water. But I haven't seen it work yet so does anyone know how much control you have over the flow, and can you stop and start the water? I want to get her used to being bathed not totally freak her (I have this image that those car wash plastic beaters will emerge from the wall and go up and down the length of her and throw some wax on too, LOL as she tears the cross ties out of the wall and runs away from home).

Its called a wah rack. And unless is some weird one lol it should just be a regular garden hose attached to hot water heater so u could just go to the store and get a hose thing that has different settings from mist to hard stream. That way you can have complete control over the pressure. Star slowly with u just holding her lead rope in case she doesn't like it then get her used to being crossed tied in there with no water. Then gradually combine the 2 and u will be bathing her in no time!

Thanks Rosethorn, LOL. I'm serious, some of this stuff is so new to me, I think I've been away to a foreign country or something!

Youtube.com has great videos on bathing horses and training them too!

Oh I never thought about that. I watch training videos there all the time on different things. Never occurred to me to look for washing videos. Thanks AGAIN, LOL. Cheryl

Start out spraying her feet and legs and gradually work your way up. I have seen people spray the head with a water hose and the horse not mind it. I have never had one that would stand for having their head sprayed. I just wet a rag and wash the face and ears.

Thanks, I'm pretty sure she wouldn't stand for that either. Her head would be up in the clouds!
