Woot! I did it!
I am so proud of myself, I've finally been able to get beyond that accident I had a few years back while doing a 3'0"+ Oxer - where I ended up not only smashing into the fence face first, but also finding a rusty metal jump cup embedded in my right arm, leaving 2 nasty scars as a reminder.
Since I moved to the new barn I am at, I've been working an amazing Trainer who competes at the GP Level. He's been able to get me past my mental block and fears of doing stadium fences.
I've been jumping with him since March, and I've found that my heart doesn't race anymore, nor do I make excuses to not do the fences, and I don't end up in fetal position, terrified and blocked. I've finally found a Coach who is able to see my issues and target them, and a Coach who has given me tools, to ride my stadium with confidence.
So, here is the video of Nelson and I doing 2'11" and 3'3". YAY ME! Excuse the inbetween part - throughout the lesson the cavaletti's were part of our "course" - he forgot to tell me to not do them the last round....
No fear, no hesitation! I'm extactic! :D
Good job! That's so exciting! :D
And I saw you're doing N this year??
You go girl!! Nelson can really bring it, can't he! Bet you're feeling good about now.
Nice job! Nelson looked super proud of you guys!
We are doing N for the first time together - yes. This is a big step forward for me, stepping out of my comfort zone of 2'7" since that accident. I got so comfortable doing 2'7", that taking this step outside of that zone, is nerve racking...but we're doing it!
I know our ride in the video wasn't "pretty" but we got it done :P My Coach said everything else will come over time.
Not bad for a 22 year old eh! I love that horse! He sure does have a lot of power eh MBP!!! He's my Super Star! I am on cloud #9, that I did anything above 2'7"!! SERIOUSLY!! I used to have panick attacks even just to do 2'9" - and now I'm doing 3'3"! THAT'S HUGE FOR ME!!
My Coach said that now that I have that fear out, I can now focus on my lines, and my distances, and a steadier seat and this and that - he just wanted me to get beyond that mental block.
Lookin' good! Congrats on getting past your block!
Thank you Wallaby! <3 and thanks corinowalk! I'm just bouncing off the walls!
nice job ! =]
Yay good for you!!!!! :)
I wish I could be there to cheer you on when you go Novice!! We are all rooting for you.
