Left Hind Pastern Injury
My mare has injured her left hind ankle. I took her to the vet and he did an ultrasound and told me to wrap it in DMSO and furazone. I did and she got better. No limp and the swelling went completely down. I took her to the round pen today to lunge her and she didn't want to trot and when I made her, she limped really bad. The vet is closed so I can't do anything in that sence, but what do you think?
The vet said she kicked the metal post in her stall and there was some soft tissue damage and lots of fluid.
I looked at her pastern when I took her back to her stall there is a bump above the hairline. It is hard, not like bone, but feels like cartilage.
I don't know the details about a horses anatomy, so I'm kinda lost.
Should I call the vet again tomorrow? What should I do until then? What do you think it is?
Thank you guys and gals.
Oh and I was giving her bute for 6 days (as ordered by the vet). Should I give her some in the morning?
