Horse biting other horses rug?
I wasn't sure where to put this. I have never seen my horses do this before but my mum said she has seen Sammy biting and kind of chewing/tugging on Pepper's rug in the last couple of days. Apparently she will go up to him being her tarty self. He will start lipping her face then she will start turning her bum to him. Then he will grab her rug in his mouth around the shoulder area and he will kind of grab and and chew until he has a fair chunk in his mouth. Then he starts pulling her back around almost like he is trying to stop her facing her bum to him. I think if she moves away he lets go though. This is just what has been described to me I haven't actually seen it myself. Is there a way I can stop this, say by putting something gross tasting on it? She wrecks her rugs enough on her own without him adding to it. Thanks for any help.

I just got something called Rap Last,as my lippy mare chews on ropes & unties herself all the time.I sprayed some on a tie rope today while I was working on my gelding. She stood real close, but I never saw her touch the rope today, which is a first. I've seen it on ebay also, but be careful of shipping charges there. Best probably to buy it local, even if it has to be ordered specially for you. It seems to work.
