Looking for:: Short Shank Snaffle bit.

Not looking to spend much. I'm shopping around on the internet, but I figure a used one from one of you guys/gals would be cheaper.

Thank you much.

like a Tom Thumb? I have a tom thumb with short shanks on it, not sure how short ... I could measure it if interested. I have just a plain s/s one.. nothing fancy. Used. $5 plus shipping, I know it would fit in a small flat rate box ($5.). PM if interested.

Picture here.

I'm looking for something more like a jr cow horse bit.

Thank you much though

Your welcome!

You'll be looking forever ;)
There is no such thing as a short-shank snaffle though many manufacturers incorrectly label curb bits as snaffles to make them sound softer. Anytime you add leverage, you are not using a snaffle bit.

I thought snaffle was just the bit part (the part that goes in their mouth) and curb was just the part that goes in their mouth.

i thought:

snaffle (what I'm looking for): http://img1.prosperent.com/images/25...m/25760-10.jpg

curb: http://www.debourragegalop.com/image...33715549_0.jpg

Now I know this bit has a high port, but i thought thats what a curb was ( a solid mouth piece)

Nope. Snaffle refers to a bit without leverage. A curb or shank bit or any other type of bit that adds leverage will not be considered a snaffle. Mouthpieces are a whole different ballgame - I have a thread at the top of the Tack & Equipment section that might help you out :)
