Sonata @ 26 months QH/Appie filly

I titled it wrong and don't know how to change it! She's 27 months :)

CC please. I see faults, so I know people with more knowledge about conformation will see more then I can. And I have "owner goggles" on so I like things pointed out to me.

I included a few of her standing cuz the horse flies were out in full force. I killed about 4 of them on her but she kept shifting around and scooting her butt under herself whenever one would land on her back side.

I'm no pro at critiques but she is obviously a solid horse, she lOoks very well balanced. I'm sure others can nicpic better than I but she is lovely!

she is slightly toed-out in the front...and just slightly cow-hocked in the back. She has a longer neck than Id prefer. I really do like her coloring and she has a nice soft eye.

She is really very nicely put together. Very feminine and well balanced. Her back is nice, great shoulder , great angle to the shoulder, neck to back ratio really good. Excellent hip angle. The only minor thing is that her leg bone is a bit dainty and she does toe out in front on the left. This is pretty minor. NOT cowhocked. That is a normal amount of outward angle.

Absolutely lovely mare!

I completely agree about her being toed out and light boned which is why we are taking everything nice and easy. He dam was very thick and stocky so I am hoping that will come with time and maturity :)

Does she look fat? I am not used to her type at all. My gelding is a solid guy at nearly 1200lbs and 16.3 but he is very muscular and you can always see the outline of rib and stomach muscles. I'm just not used to her fluffyness lol, she always looks round and soft to me. Whenever she comes off a growth spurt (which she just did) she plumps up and I slowly back her off feed till I feel she is maintaining a healthy weight.

LOL, she is a bit plump . She is maturing beautifully and I can honestly say that I am jealous. She already has such a beautiful flowing mane and tail and she's only 4 months older than Rafe and he's still got a short, yearling-esque mane/tail.

I don't know a lot about conformation but in at least one of the pics she looks slightly butt high...maybe it's just me...

KDW 05-31-2011 12:26 PM

Yeah I think it's just me...

At her age she should be butt high.

Naw, it's not you. When she stand on both back feet she is most certainly butt high but like mls said I expect it. She kinda teeter totters her way up. Some days she looks sorta level some days I am like "WOW girl...try not to fall on your face there" ;)
