Eye question- piece of iris hangs in front of pupil..
I just noticed this about a week ago. It looks like a small flap of iris tissue is over my geldings pupil..doesn't seem to interfere with his vision. He blinks when I bring my hand up by his eye quickly.. I'll try to get a picture if nobody has a clue.

Also, he has no signs of trauma or injury.

I'm not sure about horses but I have a human friend who is slowly going completely blind because of this - I would definitely see a vet.

Any eye issues, IMO, are immediate calls to the vet. Not worth taking a chance of blindness if it can be prevented.

If so that's completely normal

It doesn't look like cauliflower :/ it literally looks like someone took a razor and sliced a flap to hang in front of his pupil..which of course would be impossible that's just how it looks. It's only on his left eye. I'll try getting a picture tomorrow... The vet is coming out soon I know for another boarders shots. I'll find out when and have him looked at :/

I'd get a vet as soon as possible. This could be very dangerous, you don't want him blind...

A picture would help (:

How soon is the vet coming out to the other horses?

I would not want to wait for an eye problem.

IslandWave 05-29-2011 07:29 PM

Don't mess around with eye issues. Get a vet out as soon as possible.
