What do you think she is???

There is this mare at the barn where I board my gelding. She is super gorgeous, but we have no idea what she is. She was a rescue...once an amish horse...she is about 13hh and 1200 pounds. She has a thyroid issue that is treated twice daily with medication. She is about 6 years old.
Note: I don't know how to copy pics off of my fb. So I think you can see it if you click the links:

Are you sure she's 13 hh? At 1,200 lbs she'd be morbidly obese for a pony, and in danger of founder as well as Cushings.

Can't see the pics; don't have access to FB.

Yes I am sure, but I wish you could see the pics, she is quite overweight and has foundered a few times, she has a very hard time doing anything, when she was rescued it wasn't known she had a thyroid issue, she gets minimal amount of grain (only enough to put her medicine in) and cannot be kept in a grassy pasture. Even still, she looks at food and gets fat. Because she has foundered in the past she isn't used is just a companion...the place she is now is basically a rescue for retired horses and horses with health issues such as the one she has, my horse is the only one that is completely sound and healthy.

I am trying to get pictures on here of her. The vet is out at least once a month for her because of her "issues" and A LOT of money has been put in to treatments and whatever else we can do to help her.

Poor thing; how old is she?

Glad she's getting proper care, but she really does need some of the weight off her or it's going to kill her one way or the other.

I know thyroid issues are difficult to deal with, especially in the later stages.

I will try to get pictures of her today/tonight and get them up here for you Speed Racer.

She is about 6 years old. Where she is she is at a barn with a 26 year old mix I will have pics of him up here later to see if anyone knows what he could be, my morgan QH cross gelding who is 6 and two retired tb racehorses, one has cushings he is 28 and one has a class 6 heart murmur he is 34...these are horses no one else wants and the woman will keep them all until the pass.

That's very nice of her. I tend to keep all of mine too, regardless of their issues. I have a 25 y/o who's been unrideable since he was 20. He's very happy just being a Pasture Maintenance Engineer and Alpha Gelding!

One way to help the mare get exersize would be to put her on a track. Think a long narrow (25ft) paddock. A full circle is best but a straight one can work well too. Put her hay along the track and she'll have to wander to eat, come back and get water, and go out again to eat.
My horses require pasture but I have four of them, two I seperated by placing a "track" along the back of the third. So if they want to go to the other pasture they have to all the way down and around pasture two. When they want water they have to come all the way back again. I have small hills which help too. If I can't ride I want my girls to get exercised. They seem quite happy and are in good shape.

These are the only ones of her I could find. I know they are not the best, but I tried! Thanks! The vet thinks maybe some older morgan blood could be mixed in there but there is def. some draft.
