What Does Your Horse Trailer Say ABout You?
What Does Your Horse Trailer Say?
Every time I go to a horse camp where the rigs are
parked so people can camp and ride, I see the many
things painted on the trailers.
Usually I see the sides of trailers, both gooseneck and
bumper pull, painted with the name of the riders. "The
Richardson's, Steve and Deeda" comes to mind.
Some add a location under the names, like naming a boat
and proclaiming the port. It's always a toot to "ride
the camp" looking at what everyone else is driving
Some have vistas of forests and sunsets. I have seen
some with horse/ranch brands in a prominent location.
And I have seen some painted fronts, either the
gooseneck part that sites over the pulling truck or the
top part of the bumper pull that shows when meeting
another vehicle. That's nice, but I envision a ton of
time scraping off the bugs if I put my name there.
The big billboard, however, is the rear. That part the
people following you have no choice but to read.
One of the first trailer-door billboards I ever saw,
and this was many years ago, said "Stay Back - Show
Horses" It was a two horse tag along in need of some
fender body work and a new coat of paint. The wheels
didn't match either. I can bet what kid of show those
horses put on.
Another one said "If you can't see my mirrors, I can't
see you". I like that.
Another one said "Live Cargo on Board - Horses"
There there was the one that had two words across the
whole width of the trailer "Caution Horses". Each word
must have been a foot high and three and a half feet
long. But wait, there's more.
Underneath that was a monster picture of Yosemite Sam,
the Warner Brothers cartoon character with both
rootin' tootin' pistols pointed at me and underneath
two more really big words "Back Off".
What your horse trailer says can say a lot about you,
and may be a factor in whether or nor your camp
neighbors come over to introduce themselves.
Seen any nifty messages on the back of horse trailers?
Post 'em right here for all to see.
The best one I ever saw was a 2 horse bumper pull where someone had painted on the back of it:
WARNING: Do not tailgate! Horses are trained to poop on windshields!
Now if that doesn't get someone to keep their distance I don't know what will!
I have to admit - I love it when someone is following too closely and I see their windshield wipers come on. Gee - one of my horses must of peed . . .
Unfortunately with my GN it doesn't happen like it used to with my BP. But it does with my husbands stock trailer!
The two that realy stays with me, The latter was mine, were bumper stickers. The first said "Hells only half full, go ahead and pass". The one I had on my mule hauller was "Be kind to Donkys, kiss my a--".
This don't have to do with words or signs but kind of fits in. many years ago we were hauling fat cattle from Phonix to LA. At that time the rout was pretty much through the middle of town. There was a convertable with a bunch of those yuppie kids in it running the inside lane along side of us. At every red light they were making remarks and complaining about the smell of the truck. About halfway through we were sitting at a red light and one of those old cows was backed up against the side boards. Well she cut loose and y'all know what a fat cow with a belly full of feed can do. She put the whole load right in that convertable. The light turned I pulled the air horn and drove off laughing so **** hard I could barely see the road.
The message I get is,
Kristy -- you're still broke.
And you still don't have a trailer.
I would have paid money to see Desert Rat's cattle take care of some things.
20 ft aluminum gooseneck stock trailer. Has an AQHA sticker on it, and another that says, "Beef, It's what's for dinner." You cannot mistake me for anything other than a cowboy. The AQHA sticker is kind of ironic, since I prefer thoroughbred type horses......
My trailer says............. i dont know how to drive!!!!! I am horrible in traffic with this huge trailer, I know what my horses are thinking "spare me my life"
mine is a 32 foot aluminum keifferbuilt... doesnt say anything... I've seen tons of thos fancy ones at the shows though... I do laugh about the "caution show horses" thing though... LOL...
Hello. I used to have a bumper sticker on my trailer that said " Warning: Driver carries no cash, all spent on horses". I had another sticker on there too but I don't recall what the other one said. My current trailer is just an old stock trailer and I don't have any distinguishing marks on it.
