Devastating News. WARNING GRAPHIC
So I woke up this morning to find out that Tana and reached thru the fence and ripped a huge chunk of Dillon's lip right off.
Our vet came out and said that there is nothing we can do for him. He said just to keep it clean and see what happens. He can't garuntee us that it's going to heal or not.
He is eating well and drinking alright (he's learned to lap like a dog already) So far he has been very good about letting us clean it off. The vet will be out in a few days to cut off any skin that is starting to die off.
I'm so tore up. I've become very attached to this little colt and it's so disheartning to see him in pain. I tear up everytime I think about it or I'm out there with him. I don't want to leave him alone, it breaks my heart to see the little guy in pain.
Here are some pictures.
Oh Tiff I'm so sorry to hear about that... you know he's in my prayers tonight. He's a young guy... I'm sure he'll bounce back. That's very sad - it's great that he's coping so well already though, that's a good sign! You have to keep us posted on this one...
Aww, FGR. :( I'm so sorry that has happened...he's also in my prayers. Poor guy, I hope he gets better soon. That is very good that he's letting you clean it & stuff.
DANG! that is really bad... i hope it heals ok.
Thanks guys...that really means alot. Dillon means the world to me now.
OMG!! Poor boy! . . . . and poor you as well!!!
We all hope he heals up ok!! But if he's eating and drinking then its a good sign too!!
(((((hugs))))) :( Oh FGR.... That sucks!
I wish the two if you the very best and a speedy recovery!
Oh no FGR, what a terrible place for him to get that sort of wound! Very sensitive area I'm sure he is hurting  Your in my thoughts as well, poor little dude  You can really see the teeth marks in the first photo. Did the vet say anything about force feeding him liquids/electrolights so he doesnt dehydrate? I would think he would be having a hard time getting enough water.
He's actually drinking really good already. He's learned to lap the water like a dog and then he will dip his face in, right down past his cut (covering his nostrils) and take a few good mouthfuls. We are watching him very close to make sure that he is still eating and drinking well.
