Tack box for the truck
I want to buy big tack trunk, so I could put it on bed of my truck and fit my big western saddle in (I'm tired of fitting it on back seat through the front door :) ). The only one I could find was at valleyvet.com:
But it's way too small (may be OK for english, but not for western).
Any ideas on what can I use or where can I buy something like that?
I looked through some Rubbermaid storage boxes thinking they might work but none are bigger than the one from Valley Vet. Are you sure thats not big enough? The dimensions seem huge. :?
What about a Diamond plate tool box? Not the ones that sit on top of the bed rail of the truck. The ones that sit IN the bed of the truck.
You could check out your local auto store... O'reilleys, Napa, auto zone. Also tractor supply.
All that being said. I would also highly suggest that you bolt the box down. My brother had a tool box (full of tools of course) stolen out of the back of his truck.
Check this out from Home Depot!!
It's a 50 gallon tool box that has a handle that pulls out and wheels for easy transporting. It's sturdy enough to sit on (which several of the cheaper tack trunks aren't) There's a little "grooming tote" that stacks in and the lid is lockable (with holes for your own padlock). The best thing? Only $60!! It's big enough for my English saddle and all of my show stuff, but I don't know about a western saddle. I've had mine for a couple of months and I love it.
Thanks a lot, folks!
Vida, I don't know... I just tried to measure the table with the ruler to size out that box and it seems to be too narrow and low. May be you are right, it's bigger "in person". :) But just from measurements doesn't look huge.
upnover, I certainly will check it out!!
Dumas'_Grrrl, I don't want to bolt it in (I use truck for hay delivery and all), but I plan on putting chain with the lock on. :) I know, not all people are nice, unfortunately. We have emails with disappearing tack all the time in area...
Mm, I think I'll check that one out, Upnover. Its a lot more heavy-duty looking than mine (also from Home Depot).
The one that the OP posted said right on the ad "can accomodate engish or western saddle" ..?
Yeah, it does say. But I don't feel like paying for delivery back if it doesn't. :) I have rather big saddle, and just doesn't look like it'll fit in nicely (with some space left for stirrups and all). I am sure it'll be good size for english saddle though.
