Red Clay- white and bay horse= yellow horse
I now live in an area made up on completely red clay. The kind you would see in a baseball field. This combined with a bay and white paint, makes for a yellow mane and tail and a yellow and bay horse.
I know there are a bunch of products that help make it whtie again. Can you tell me what you've used, pro and cons of them and how long it lasts?
Seeing those pics make me feel ill. I love how white he was!!
I like QuicSilver. I have a fleabitten grey, and it takes the yellow out of his tail like nothing else.
It'll last until your horse rolls again in the red clay. :-P
Booo!! Thats not what i want to hear. lol! Its really shameful that hes that yellow. I just bathed him last week but it didnt do much except make him clean. But he is stained.
Pretty horse BTW:wink:
Golden, he's yellow even though its red ;) So that may work. And thank you for the compliment
Just be glad your horse isn't completely gray. There's a horse I see every day on the way home from work I call 'Cheeto', because his owner's property is red clay and that sucker must GRIND it in!
Interestingly enough, I don't have red clay soil although I live in southern VA where it's rampant. My soil is sandy, rocky, and drains well even during monsoon rain storms.
Lovely horse BTW, even if he is yellow stained.
LOL Speedracer @ Cheeto! How funny. I rarely see my boy roll, though its apparent when he does. I'm very good in the sense that after i bathe him, I make him dry out in the round pen (lots of green grass to occupy his mind) and then let him out in the clay pasture. Your very lucky not to have the this nasty red clay. I'm in NC and it seems like its everywhere. He is a good looking boy, even when hes yellow. Thank you.
Bump. I know there are more products. I'd love ot hear what everyone uses and why. Thanks :)
I have a white/dun paint mare and have used all kinds of shampoos and whitening products. The best one by far has been Goop, like Golden Horse mentioned. Cowboy magic took 3-4 washes while Goop only took one wash.
