Arg. Time Jump Table Rules
I've been keeping my gelding in shape for eventing by adding in some local jump and occasional hunter shows.
The ones I've been doing have been Arg. 2.2c (or Table II2c) which I understand is I get through the first 8 jumps and if no refusals or faults (knocked rail) if I hear no BEEP, I keep going for the remaining 4-6 timed jumps.
I have another show this weekend but they're doing Table II2b arg ... which I think is different...
anyone more experienced able to break it down for me so I dont look like a total idiot OR spend the first 2 classes figuring it out :-o
well I havent a clue what your talking about hahaha. The first example you explained we call power and speed, so its like a course and jump off in one but like you said if you dont do the first part clear you cant automatically continue on to the "jump off" so to speak. However, the terminology of arg 2.2c and table 112 etc makes no sense to me. i shall google and see what I find, if anything, and figure out how it compares to the terms I know so maybe I can help you out :) If not, do not in any way hesitate to ask at the show! If you get there before things start ask the judge, ask other riders, or ask a trainer.
ETA: wheres the show? where did you get this info? Is there a site I could look at that says the info you have?
We have power and speed as well.
They will beep you out if you can't do the jump off, because of slow time or faults.

Ok I googled and found the h/j show at nelson ranch....im assuming thats where your showing since your from sacremento and thats the association. I went through the whole show booklet list online and I see where it says that but I was looking to see if there was a table somewhere in there of what the 'a,b,c' were for the classes, Id assume its something like power and speed, jump off, optimum time or some different variations of different jump courses. I found nothing. Ill continue to look, but incase I find nothing I can atleast explain to you what those different classes are so that way if you ask someone and they say 'b' is an optimum time, youll know what they mean if you dont already know.
ah yes they're SAHJA shows here locally in Sacramento. But the rules are under USEF guidelines... so I think I found my answer.
yes they beep a horn if you fault and cant keep riding the remaining II.2c .. I think in the II.2b course you do your jumps and then you wait to see if there is any jump off necessary, you're allowed to incure faults, they wont automatically DQ you... thanks for the help .. I will hopefully ride middle of the pack and figure it out. least its the first class, all the newby riders like me are in there .. :wink:
b. Table II, Sec. 2 (b)—The first round and first jump-off, if any, are decided by adding together the faults incurred over the course and any penalties for exceeding the Time Allowed. If a competitor has gone clean in the first round, the competitor will, without leaving the ring, upon an audible signal, commence the designated jump-off course. A competitor with a clear round may dismount, and with assistance if necessary, adjust tack and/or equipment; however, upon the audible signal to begin his/her round, the competitor is responsible to adhering to the 45 seconds rule as per JP134.3. A competitor who leaves the arena after a clear round (before or after the tone) will be considered to have retired from the jump-off. If there are no clean rounds and a tie exists for first place, there will be one jump-off in which time will decide in the event of equality of faults. It is recommended that no more than ten numbered obstacles be included in the first round when the class is scored under this table.
d. Table II, Sec. 2 (c)—Two Phase Competitions - The first phase to consist of 8 to 10 jumping efforts and the second phase (immediate jump-off) of 5 to 7 jumping efforts. Scores are decided by adding together the faults incurred over the course and any penalties for exceeding the Time Allowed if any. If a competitor has gone clean in the first round, he will, upon crossing the finish line, commence the designated jump-off course. Time starts as the horse crosses the finish line for the initial course. If there are no clean rounds and a tie exists for first place, there will be one jump-off, in which time will decide in the event of equality of faults. The use of a Time Allowed is optional in the first round. The Time Allowed in the first round may be taken by electronic or manual means.
yep thats how I took it. I looked and looked for a table of contents type of thing hahaha. If you finish the round before leaving ask the gate person if your in the jump off so you dont walk out and accidently forfit. If you dont knock any rails expect to be in the jump off, they will tell you if you have time faults and in that case you wont be in it either. Jump off riders, even if they knock down every rail, will always place higher than any rider not in the jump off. Whoever has the least amount of faults or the quickest time if multiple riders have no faults thats who will win the class. Its best in this sort of class so maintian a good speed but really prepare for every fence. USUALLY the time allowed is easy to make so focus on a clear round. If you notice everyone in front of you geting time faults plan on picking up the pace on your own horse but remain as careful as possible to not hit rails. If you make it to the jump off and your comfortable, pick up the pace but still prepare for each fence dont just gallop at it and hope you get over it! lol. As your watching everyone look for where you can cut corners, only you know how comfortable your horse is about jumping and whether he needs a long approach or if only a few strides will suffice. If hes fine with a shorter approach cut corners in order to take seconds off but make sure you always have your next jump in mind. Dont take one fence at and angle towards the right if you have to turn left afterwards, make sense? If you can cut to the inside of fences go for it, but prepare for that turn before you get there. maybe even bring your horse to a trot for a couple strides to make that really tight turn to the inside and then pick up the canter and head towards the next fence. Itll be quicker than cantering all the way around another fence to make your turn. At the lower level youll notice a lot of people are making wider turns than necessary, so aim for the tighter ones if you and your horse can and that alone will place you ahead. As the levels get harder everyones looking to cut corners so it gets tougher to shave off time.

And pictures and videos when you get back please! lol. I just took my two greenies to their first show on the 19th, i did puddle jumpers with the pony and intermediate jumpers (2'3-2'6) with my mare. They did phenomenal and I cant wait to show them again! I want to get my mare out eventing as well, shes a bold jumper as in not a single fence scares her but I need to get her using herself better first!

I have couple okay shots from last weekend, my friend was using my camera and getting the timing down was an issue for her. My husband does AWESOME ... but he never goes. She is going Sat but not sure about Sunday.
bottom 2 photos my hubby snapped at our lesson. he always gets me in the air. not sure what his trick is. this show may have a photographer. most of our local ones you have to sign up ahead of time... pay a deposit. :? and yes I know I am on his neck. he's one of those horses I am trying to find that happy balance. If I am more forward he feels confident to jump. If he feels me start to sit back a little he gets all nervous, wiggly and thinks OH something is wrong, I need to run / duck out .. so trying to find that happy medium..lol
as someone posted on another thread, think about boob up/ butt out. lol I will be running that in my head...:wink:
