How to trail wrap?

Sooo every time I buy one of those cheap little tail bags and try to put my mare's tail in and tie it in, she always ends up getting turned out and tearing it out, along with chunks of her tail!

But if I don't wrap it, it gets mud in it which then dries and sucks the moisure out of it and even though I spray it with show sheen every other day, it just gets all gross and then I have to wash it, which I know I shouldn't do too often anyway if I want it to grow thicker!

So I've seen people wrap their horses' tails up with something that appears like vet wrap, OR I've seen this also, which looks cute as an added bonus!

But I haven't the slighest clue how to do it...I like this one too because then it still gives her a weapon against flies! ;) Anyone know how to do this braided cloth looking tail wrap and make it secure so she won't rip it out??

Hmmm and just realized I named this how to TRAIL wrap, when I meant TAIL wrap SORRY! LOL :)

The wrap that you have pictured is a braid in tail wrap. It just has three tubes that when you divide the tail to braid it, you slip a piece through each section, then braid it in.

I found instructions online on using strips of cloth to do the above and I tried it today :) not very easy but hopefully it holds!

But the one above looks like it's secured with something at the top, anyone have any ideas what that may be?

Of course she somehow undoes the braid and all the hair at the top is one giant mat, so there goes that idea lol ;)
