Question about lineage
Okay, not sure if this is where this goes, but anyway...
So, I contacted Aires' breeder and found out that he's actually a paint/Percheron cross, not a spotted draft/Percheron cross like I thought. Not that it matters, but I had a disagreement with another boarder and wanted to find out for sure (she insisted that Aires was an appy/Percheron cross :? ). Anyway, the breeder was really awesome and sent me both his sire and dam's registered names and registration numbers.
So, I looked up his parents on allbreedpedigree.com.
This is his sire's pedigree: Little Bit of Black Paint The only name I recognize on there is Two Eyed Jack, WAY back on his sire's dam's side. Any other notable names on there?
I wasn't able to find his dam, but maybe someone with knowledge of how to look up Canadian horses can help me. Her registration number (as given to me by the breeder) is [CPA] F41031- . Her registered name is Edelweiss Ida.
Here's a couple pics of Aires with his dam when he was just a baby:
And here's his sire (kinda glad Aires takes after his momma, TBH!):
Know nothing about the lines or how to search canadian registries, but I would assume the dam came from this farm, maybe you could contact them?
LOL! Yes, that's who I contacted and got her registered name and registration number through. But I can't figure out how to look her up (the breeder acted like I should know how, even though she's Canadian registered and I made it clear I was in the US).
Oh, okay lol. I would guess CPA means Canadian Percheron Association, they have a contact phone number listed here:
Contact - Canadian Percheron Association
I would suggest calling them to find out more information, I can't see anything on the website about being able to search pedigrees.
Yeah, I tried looking her up on the CPA and didn't get anything, so I'll try contacting them.
Honestly, I'm really more interested in Aires' sire's lines. :-)
Good luck with them. :D
I honestly don't know much about modern paint lines at all so I really can't say much about the sire. He has the well known old lines quite a ways back (Three Bars, Skipper W, Leo, Poco Bueno, King, Joe Reed II) but then most QH bred horses these days DO have them somewhere back there.
Hopefully someone with knowledge of modern Paint lines can tell you more. I'm afraid I have no clue. Sorry!
I am not terribly familiar with Paint lines so I don't see much any closer than about 4 or 5 generations and anything back that far won't really have much influence on him.
I agree with you though about being glad that he takes after his momma. His daddy is kinda fugly LOL.
