alternative horse shoes
 

i was wanting to know if there are alternatives to metal and aluminum horse shoes like rubber or plastic if so what are they called and have you used them before

I use Ground Control horse shoes, plastichorseshoes.com
But I like to use the Epona Anti-Bacterial Granules packing.
Gravel can get wedged between the shoe and the hoof, plus the bar is kind of a pain to clean around, which is why I like to use packing. While the can be reset a couple times you have to trim and reset them every month.

Despite the extra care they require they are completely worth it!

I noticed an immediate bounce and increased elasticity to her gait, and she didn't slip on the road during trail rides any more.
