Is there any type of bridle that doesn't have a brow band?
My horse is having issues with his bridal and I'm just wondering if there's any type of bridal out there that doesn't have the brow band?

There are a few types without the brow band i would imagine ( may be wrong), although this is the only one I can think of at the moment:
I'm not sure if this is more for use in a show though, i have limited experience in western tack, so I'm sure someone can give you some better advice!

Best of luck!

I have a one ear headstall that I use on my gelding. You can find them on basically any tack website or tack store.

well if you're western there are a billion different bridles. My local western tack shops have WALLS AND WALLS of them with whatever fancy trim or color you want, lol. If you're english i've never seen one, but you could always just cut out the browband... you could even buy a cheap western and take the earpiece off and put it on the english if need be. You can also look into special browbands, or look into larger ones. There are replacements that i've seen, most of them with fancy stones on them, but whatever. Some are heart shaped and would not touch the middle of the brow.

also, if your horse has always had a browband then unless he's grown recently or you changed to a smaller bridle, it might also be a medical thing. If he's sensitive about his ears check to see if they are ok. Also try not to bend the ears when bridling, some horses really hate that and will learn to hate bridling after a while.

hope this helps, and good luck!

Some western bridles don't even go over the one ear. My BO has several that attach to the bit on each side but have no throatlatch or browband, etc. I have no clue where she got them though. I tried to find a pic online but couldn't.

Why dont you just take it off your current bridle???

Why is this such a problem that it needs another thread?

If you have an English bridle the headband is a separate piece and comes off completely. Heck, you can even take the cavesson off and just leave the piece that holds the bit and reins.

Really, it's not a big deal. If your horse HATES the browband, just take it off the bridle. :?

Similar for the western. Undo the bit pieces from the buckles, and slide the browband right off, and tada!! Bridle with out a browband.

Exactly, it's not that hard to just take it off the bridle and end up with a bridle very similar to this.

If that doesn't work, you can buy a slit ear headstall and just not put his ear through the slit.
