I haven't seen this kinda crack before..
He had his hooves were just done last week. They look so much better then what they were. However his front left hoof is starting to crack. I was told the farrier said he looked great but just needs some conditioner. (Which is why his hoof is shiny although a little dirty.) I just wanted your thoughts on these cracks.
(Better to have some conditioner on when he is a bit dirty then to have none on at all.)
It's a bit hard to see for sure what's going on due to the hoof goop that's on there but it appears to me that his hoof walls are likely still too long and are chipping off to relieve some of the added pressure. Did the trimmer do any sort of mustang roll or was it more of a "pasture trim"?
Next time your out, can you get some more pictures without the conditioner on there? Here is a site that shows how to take proper hoof pictures. That way, we can get a good idea of what's really going on there.

You are awesome.
I was not there for the trim, since he was still at the rescue at this point. His hooves ALOT better then what they were but I want to make sure he is ready to be worked for sure. I waited a week after this trim because I was told he was very sore. His hooves were very over grown. I don't have enough knowledge on hooves to know anything.
