Finding more eastern NY State Rodeos
hi all! i'm currently in northern nj on the border of NY and PA (by a few miles) and frequent the painted pony rodeo. i know there's a small rodeo co that has an event at the orange county fair, but other than that i'm coming up empty. there's a few small free rodeos in the lake george area (stony creek and what not) that i know of, but i know that there should be more around me, i just can't seem to find them.
does anyone know of any? i'm just 6 miles from matamoras, pa and milford pa, and 1 mile from greenville, ny and 12 miles from middletown, ny so really looking northern PA & south/eastern NY.
thanks! right now i'm not competing as my QH passed away a few years ago (and was retired anyway) and my new QH is just a yearling but i love going to watch and also want to get more familiar so in a few years i know where to bring my boy! ty!
Here's a link to the PRCA website. there are like 15-20 pro rodeos in NY http://prorodeo.com/Calendar2011.aspx
Also in terms of getting out and competing, there's the Cowtown Rodeo series every Saturday night from Memorial Day weekend to the end of August at the other end of the state in Pilesgrove.
It claims to hold the distinction of being the oldest weekly rodeo series in the United States, having started in 1955.
Double M Rodeo
About an hour south of the painted Pony is the Double M Rodeo in Malta NY.
The Double M will be holding two rodeos in June 2012 close to where you live.
Info can be found at wwwdoublemwestern.com
I also do a blog for the Double M at Double M Rodeo, Malta NY
Unless Ty is a common name I think you may have already found us this last summer.
