Antique spurs and bit...anybody know anything about them?
For my birthday this year, my grandpa finally gave me his antique bit and spurs that he promised me years ago. ( grandpas...)

Anyway, I was wondering if you guys could help me figure out a little more about these and what they might possibly be worth? Cookies to those of you who read the rest of this:

Back Story:
Thirty five to 40 years ago, my Grandpa worked at the local country club. Just after he started, an elderly couple (who happened to be the parents of my grandpa's friend) donated these spurs and bit to be used as decoration in the dining area of the club. Years passed and the club decided to remodel the dining area. They offered the spurs and bit back to the elderly couple, but they didn't want them back. My grandpa took them, and they have been with him since.
He asked his friend about the spurs and bit, and he said that his great grandparents (the grandparents of the elderly couple that donated them to the club) used to own a huge cattle ranch, and they just happened to be some of the things that were passed on to his parents.

What I do know:
From the back story I was given, I believe the pair have to be between 70-90 years old.
The bit and spurs are made from solid brass.
I believe the spur straps are original to the set

I don't have a way to put up pictures yet, but I will work on it tonight and see what I can do.

The bit

Her are the pictures of the bit. 5" mouthpiece, the top half of the shank is 1" and the bottom part of the shank is 3"I believe. The snaffle action rings and the curb action rings are loose rings.

On the right bar of the mouthpiece, the words "STAR STEEL GOLD" are engraved.

Just below the top circle on the left shank, there is a little star engraved on the bit.

That bit probably has a name of its own, but I don't know what to call it besides a Weymouth Pelham, just as a descriptor. Weird that a Google search on "star steel gold" is fruitless.

Bit and spurs
Google August Buermann. He made a lot of bronze pieces, including spurs for the Cavalry. I think he made your items.

I have no clue. I tried google like Bubba13 did, but nothing came up. I hope you find out!

He has no wikipedia page. When searching for him "August Buermann Spurs" came up. Something about antiques also came up.

The Spurs

Sorry about the wait for the spur pictures. I got sidetracked last night. So anyway, I have looked at every nook and cranny on the spurs, and I haven't found a single marking or word that could indicate a maker.

Those look like Chihuahua style spurs to me, but again, that doesn't exactly help you with the age or make.
