I'm looking into getting a new saddle soon. My synthetic Abetta has about seen it's last ride. Haha! =] Anyway, I'm looking at horsesaddleshop.com, because I've heard nothing but GOOD about that website, delivery, customer service, etc. After searching for a good two or three hours on that site I think I've narrowed my search way down to this saddle:
What do you think about it? It's got a flex-tree...obviously, it flexes, but other than that what does it do? Are they usually more comfortable for the horse? My guy is a wide, stocky, "bulldog like" Quarter Pony, so I'm sure FQHB will be fine on him. I e-mailed the company and they said the gullet is 7".
Another thing...has anyone had any personal experience with Dakota saddles?
Flex-tree is good if you have low-withered / wide back horse. It fits them much better. I couldn't use it on either of mine, because they have pronounced withers (and narrow back for one of them).
I heard good things about Dakota, but never tried one myself. TexTan makes nice flex-tree, but it's more expensive. In any case - good luck on finding one!
I have a Dover and Colorado Sadllery Flex Tree saddle. Love them and will not use anything else. (Possibly TREE LESS but that's it!)
