Working my horse
This is my first ever Thread i have started.
OK, I am getting a new horse called Cliff. He is 17 and hasn't really been worked much lately. He has had occasional rides, both hard and lite.
He can't jump to high (50/60 cm max) because he is a bit old and it is hard on his bones.
Do you have any tips to ease him back to work?
And what to feed him?
And any particular ways i should care for him?
Thanks- Id appreciate it!
Sorry! Turned out to be in the wrong section.
I am still new to the Horse Forum
I moved it for you. Welcome to the Horse Forum. :-)
Just take him into work slowly. Like start riding 20 mins/a day walk with some trot, then 30 mins and more trot, etc. Just step-by-step to build his muscles. That's how I bring my mares back after the winter break.
As for feeding is he an easy keeper? Not? And what was he fed before? It's kinda hard to advice about feeding without knowing more details.
And Welcome to the Forum! :-)
