Sisco- 2 Y/O Critique

So, here's my 2 y/o 'rescue' boy now. I have to admit, he was butt ugly when I got him. lol. I honestly don't know what made me want him. Must have been fate. Anyhow, I've never regretted it. He's turned out to be a fantastic little horse and I'm more than proud.
He stands right at 14.2 now and I have sat on his a few times.
Pics.....
He was being a pill here and didn't want to stand still.

(best one I have of his right side.)

And for refrence, this was the first time I saw him. Doesn't he look so pittiful and ugly?

No critique here, but my horse was the same way really scrawny and ugly looking. Now i get complements all the time on how pretty she is. You have a great looking horse!

He has a nice long neck & a nice short back. He looks very well taken care of. He is good looking boy.

Wow! He looks fantastic!! Love his markings....had a critique for you, but I think its horribly off :)

I know he has far less than ideal confo. But, thank you all. He is a sweetie when he wants to be and a jerk other times. He has a really bad old scar on his left pastern and it has a hard lump under it.

Well he looks WAY better than when you first got him! I love his coloring. I think he looks pretty good. Got a big ol head on a thin little neck, lol. But gives him personality.

TheNinja 08-16-2011 08:34 PM

Yep, he looks 100x better. lol. And yeah, his head is his biggest downfall IMO. But, I like it. When he was younger, his neck was thicker, I think he may be in a growing phase now. Dunno. I think he'll be a nice trail/fun show horse.

once you're riding him and making him use his neck, and once he's done filling out- his neck should muscle up and begin to blend in with his body.

As far as real critique, it's hard to do so since his legs are not square. He does look as if he might have weak shoulders and a narrow frame, but he could very well bulk up. Most horses go through an 'ugly duckling' state, and that's most likely what he's in. I think I see a pretty sound horse in there ^^ love the roman nose and his coloring is gorgeous.

His neck doesn't tie in well with his body and he's got rather unproportional legs right now (a tad too long for him!) but he should grow into the legs atleast. I do think he needs a bit of a manicure though- his hooves are long!

can't wait to see how he turns out =]

Well that makes me feel better reading other people's critique...I was thinking that his neck looked a tad strange, no offense OP.....I also thought something looked strange about his feet...glad Im not imagining things!! He looks like a real sweetie tho!!

I agree with Endiku, body is normal for his age. Actually a nice hind end and good hocks and all. Back short and shoulder angle good. Only the way the neck ties is is wonky. Correct riding will reduce but not erase this.
I kinda like his big ol' cayuse head.
