In a show when the judge calls for a reverse what is the best way to do that. What about timing? should i wait about a stride or do it right away??
Usually when changing gaits or turning (or whatever the judge asks for) I wait about 3 strides instead of rushing into it, I prefer to take my time and do it slowly and calmly.
It really depends. I take the time to look at where all the other horses are around me before manuevering my reverse. I will do certain things to get a better position along the rail for myself. I might stop & pivot, or do a small, quick half circle, or do a bigger, slower half circle. It all depends who is around me & what they are doing.
alright thanks guys!!! i'll have to try those out. i have a couple pleasure shows coming up so i just wanted to get that cleared up.
