Which type of braids are these?

Just braided for a show (Eventing) this weekend, and it was my very first time braiding :D My friend/trainer showed me her way, and I completely forgot it LOL...so I had to do a youtube search on show morning for "Braiding an Eventer's mane" and this is what I got. But now that I am looking at some photos of "Hunter" braids, do these look more like Hunter braids?

I've seen "button" braids that are used for dressage, but do Eventers usually use them or just dressage ONLY shows? I'm not interested in braiding twice, once for dressage and again for stadium jumping!

those look more like hunter braids to me. Which are perfectly acceptable :)

The only time I braid for stadium is when it is after dressage. In Kentucky, many events are run Dressage, Stadium, XC. So there's no point in taking them out!

Thanks Drew! Yeah I'm not sure how the 2-day I'm doing Sept. 3rd will be...I know it's Saturday/Sunday and dressage is on Saturday but not sure if they'll do Dressage and Stadium on the same day and then XC on Sunday or put the 2 jumping phases together. What's your experience with those?

Well just answered my own question! Went on their website and discovered they do Dressage and XC together on Saturday and then Stadium is on Sunday!

This should be fun!! Never done an awards ceremony before!! :D

"The show jumping test is followed by an awards ceremony and victory gallop. As each team of horse and rider enters the arena to ride their jumping test, scores are announced, and as the pairs compete in the reverse order of placing, the divisions can be competitive and quite exciting."

Just gonna chime in here and say I'm super jealous of your position, even though I don't really ride dressage all that much. :P

Your horse is gorgeous!! And you did an amazing job with those braids!

I grew up doing the events D,XC,SJ and I knew no different. But when I moved here, we do D, SJ,XC. I prefer XC first, my horse prefers SJ. haha

Thanks nicole! :)

Drew I know it seems like it all depends on the specific place which they do first, xc or sj!
