Eventing rules about having a trainer

I'm getting into eventing this year. I was curious if it was mandatory to have a trainer present at a USEA recognized event in order to compete? Does it have to do with age limit? ability? Please give me your sources/where you found it. I looked in the USEA Rulebook, but I may have missed it. Thanks(:

No. It pretty much could be anyone. Obviously, pick wisely. And no, they don't have to be present.

It is not necessary, but let me tell you, it is certainly nice to have someone who knows what they're talking about to prepare you before the xc, especially if you've never competed at a recognized event before.

No, you do not have to have your Coach/Trainer pesent at HT's when you compete. I know quite a few who compete all season from start to finish, who have no one with them at comps.

No. You don't have to have one present.

Do not get confused with the USEA HT entry forms either! When it says "trainer signature" it simply means the person that is responsible for the horse. Therefore, you'd sign it. It's a huge liability for your coach to sign it anyway.

happy eventing!

it would probably be a good idea for you first couple events, i wish i had had someone with me for mine ! but you certainly dont have to.

I def recommend eventing your first year with a coach or more advanced rider. However it's not required. I just like having someone else there to walk XC with me because that is the area I am least familiar with.
