This is my boy telly he is my first horse, I purchased him about 4 months ago. He is a direct offspring of Telusive and was originally purchased as a stallion for a fair chunk of change, he was gelded at 5 yr's and is now seven. When i purchased him he was a bit underweight so we have been working on that as well as training and i am thinking on sending him for another three months with a great trainer. He is a wonderful horse and i know his faults he is a bit undertraind for riding and was never shown, he is a halter breed but was never shown. Anyways i would like some opinions on what people think about his conformation and i know that i really have to work on his topline and still put a bit more weight on him but he is coming along even since this pic. I would really like to get him working with cattle and i will ask trainer if he may be suitable for that, i know he is halter bred but that's not really what i am into i mainly bought him to trail ride. Pls give me your professional opinions on what you think of him, not the best pic but not bad i will try to add more but i am on my phone so when i get to a comp i will add more. I love this guy he is pretty mellow and i haven't had a problem riding him since day one, but i want him to excell in something and looking for the way to go with him, your thoughts please and thank you
Isn't this guy lovely! Firstly, you posted this in the wrong session, lol. But that's ok.
Second a good set of conformation photos would be squared up to the side, one with his tail pulled up off his back legs from behind and one from his chest down. It would help the members on here immensely and they are much more likely to give you a good thorough break down of your horses faults and pluses. : )
I'm not expert. By far, and still learning. This is what I see and I could be wrong. So take what I'm telling you as such. He has halter pasterns, they are upright. In the top picture he has quite the wither going on. And in the bottom one he has what appears to be a pigeon chest, but it could be just the way he is standing. Besides that, and like I said I could be wrong, he doesn't appear to be built downhill and he has a cute head. I really like his chunk. He looks like he is built tanky.
Now that being said it would probably be easier to see things if he was nicely squared on level ground. He is a nice looking horse and I wish you luck with him.
I will try this in the right thread this time Telly is my 7yr old aqha gelding I purchased him 4 months ago, he was sold as a stallion for a fair bit of money but was gelded at 5yrs. He is a direct offspring of sire. Telusive ( Kid Clu, Star born blu) Dam. Flamin whoopee (Whoopee majestic, The diva) he is hypp n/n. I am a fairly new rider but I think I did alright on my purchase, he was under weight when i got him so i am working on that as well as trying to build his neck and overall conditioning and he has come a long way. Pls give me your opinions on him, i bought him for trail riding mostly but he is confined to the arena right now and i think he will be getting three more months of professional traing before we hit the trails next spring, i really want to get some cattle training on him share your thoughts about that to pls if you can, please and thank you
Two threads were merged together, so a bit of overlap. Sorry. critique away!
You said something about his hind end looking odd. What I see is the gluteal muscle is very chunky and round and ties in to the leg rather suddenly and high. The gaskin, below it , is a bit on the lightweight side . Good sized hocks and hock angle is normal. Upright pasterns all around, cannot see feet well enough to comment. Back is nice and short. Although the wither is high, and set fairly far back, the angle of the should is more upright than one would expect with the wither so far back, and I do believe he is a wee bit pigeion chested. In the top photo his front legs seem a bit close, but could be an optical illusion, but it appreas as if he is base narrow in front. Neck is long for good balance and not downhill.
Some good and some not so good.
As far as working cattle, I am told that any horse will benefit from working cattle. I have never had the chance to do this. And for trails, he looks fine. Now, how do you think about his MIND? Since that is what you will really be riding!

His mind is very good he is very calm and learns quickly, with that being said he does test me lots and I wish I was a little more there, but experienced is experience and you have to have both good and bad to learn he's pretty patient with me lol
i'm not good at critiqueing. i can give you the basics but so can everyone else. and they can also give you alot more information.
but i want to say that his persinality sounds alot like my guy. my boy learns really quickly and is constently testing me and trying to outsmart me.but he's a saint of a horse, and he's more then patient with me. but by doing that and testing me, he has taught me ALOT. and has made me a much better horse person, and i'm still learning and always will be. take everything he gives you, and learn from it. you'll make mistakes, he'll confuse you, and you'll confuse him but thats part of horse training. don't let it get you down. take what you can from the experiences and move foward.
i know you mentiond sending him to a trainer. if you can afford it i HIGHLY recomend taking lessons with him. for ground work and riding. i can honestly say that i dont know what i would have done if my instructor hadnt agree'd to come give me lessons on my boy.
anyways, thats all. sorry i didnt do any conformation crituqeing but i just saw your last post and i felt like i needed to comment on it. as i feel for you. i just bought my boy 5 months ago. before that i had done 13 years of lessons. but lessons are ALOT diffrent as i found out. owning and riding outside of the lessons is a whole diffrent animal. i cant thank my instructor enough for helping me though and helping me progress even more
