Does he look like a Morgan?

My husband has a 6 yr old gelding that we were told is a morgan (but not registered) I know very little about Morgans , does he look like one to you? He has a very sweet personality and seems very eager to learn. What are most morgans like personality wise?

I dont have a ton of experience with Morgans. In fact, very little. But off the top of my head, he doesn't look very morgan to me. He looks pretty big boned and doesnt' have the often times curly mane of morgans. He could be part Morgan, tho. Might have some thoroughbred and some sort of draft? Looks very powerful in the shoulder.

The morgan I knew was very sweet but could also be really stubborn.

He looks Morgan, or at least part Morgan, to me. His face and body are very Morgan-like. That compact body with strong limbs is very typical of the Morgan.

I'm not sure what tinyliny is referring to as far as curly mane. I've never seen a Morgan with a curly mane? I'm sure they exist, but I don't think it's a breed standard?

I only have limited experience with Morgans, but from that bit I have, and from what I've read, they are very intelligent and curious horses, always aiming to please, and enjoy the company of people.
Generally easy keepers, so be careful what you feed. Usually very strong feet, though.

I love Morgans :-) My boy is only half Morgan, but he has a lot of the standard characteristics of one.

This horse could very well be full Morgan. I have had experience with two different Morgans. One was an older Morgan gelding being used as a handicapped therapy mount. I was a volunteer horse handler at the Thearpy Centre and this horse was a very personable and well-behaved citizen. The other Morgan is a yearling now and belongs to a friend of mine. I horse-sat doing the morning and evening feedings and filling water tanks on the week-end of the 4th of July for my friend and her hubby.

I definitely see morgan. In the last picture his face looks so morgan-y. The only thing that throws me off is his headset.

Thanks everyone. I am trying to find out more about him, I may have a lead on the farm he was born at if I find out for sure what he is I will post it.

He definately does seem large for a morgan. How tall is he? The compact look is very typical, however- which is why they excell as cart horses as well as riding horses.

I've only ridden or interacted with a few morgans but this is what they seem to look like typically (though this mare is only 13.2hh) very stocky with thick necks.

By curly, I meant "wavy". Sorry.

I have a Morgan. very sweet but loves to test you (not in a mean way, more of an I don't "feel" like doing that, can I get away with quietly refusing).

A bit high-strung and a go, go, go kind of guy which I have been told is typical for the breed. Loves to learn new things and doesn't get upset even if you have no clue what you are doing or he has no idea what you are asking him to do. The trainer I bought him from was successfully using him as a lesson horse for teens and he was a very green 4yr old at the time.

The horse I exercise is a Morgan mare. She also has the go-go-go thing happening and is a forward mover. She is great with kids but tests adults. A little spooky at times and very opinionated. But, after several months of getting to know each other she's really won me over.
