Horsey crafts :) saddles pads and covers. Opinions needed !
So once my life calms down a little more in the next month or so i want to get back into sewing. I was thinking of different horse themed items i could make and have been starting patterns for saddle pads and pad covers. Is this something people would be interested in? i know sometimes its hard to find just that perfect pad. Im a very skilled seamstress and if anyone can think of anything thing else that could be mad let me know:)
I really can't think of anything right off the top of my head, but I would love to see some of the stuff you've done before. I admire people who can sew well. I find it very taxing, and mostly sew by hand, if at all.
I guess I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about. Custom made saddle pads/covers, or embroidery? Or something else?
Yes custom saddle pads and covers.
Covers are just like... well slip covers that go over your usual pad to change things up a bit, I know i have personally had problems finding that pad that matched just what i was looking for. I can offer them in just about anything you can think of.
Im probably going to start with English all purpose and Dressage pads.
Im thinking with western pad i will just stick with covers.
Also thinking along the lines of matching polo wraps and eventually tack bags.
I see this thread is a little old... did you ever start making stuff? I always thought there'd be a huge market for matching horse gear, and blankets and rugs with more interesting designs.
I think saddle covers! I am always looking for a good dust cover for my saddle in cool patterns that isn't super pricey! Maybe helmet covers?

Do you think you could do costume like themes? Things like barding, rump breaching, reins, things of that sort? Indie and I are going to be working on our jousting/horseback archery this year and I'd be pretty darn interested if I found someone who made those sorts of costumes!
My sister and I spent two days on that, and it still looks horrible  So really, if you end up being able to sew costumes (that can take a bit of a beating) then I'd be super interested.
