Breech of Contract

I got my boarding bill yesterday and there was a $25 surcharge (for the raising cost of fuel) which i mean, i understand, but our board just went up in February and it seems like they're just trying to make more money.
I was reading over the boarding contract this morning and if there is any change in price, the stable has to let us know no less than 30 days. Considering we got the surcharge and a letter saying there was going to be a surcharge this month and nothing the month before and any other mail from them prior to June, would they be in breech of contract?

If so, is there anything we can do?

I really dont know anything about board because I have never had to pay board but i know that board can be aggrvating!!

I would say so! They have to give 30 days' notice BEFORE adding any charges.

We just had to raise our board prices as well from the rising fuel but mainly higher grain prices. It costs about $25 more per month then it did even a few months ago! (and still raising) Sadly my BO is not making any money off this increase!

However, we did give our clients a months notice, AS IT SAYS IN OUR CONTRACT! I'd call your barn and just gently remind them about giving notice. Technically they can't charge you extra until next month.

thinking about it now, when they changed their board form $415 to $440 we got a letter with that month saying that they had to increase it. :?

Think it's time to move them.
I found this place online, and it looks very nice, and they could get pasture turn out :)

What does everyone think of it?

Thanks Pop!

On my way either to the horses or back from them, i plan on driving by and taking a look at the place.

ooh i like the new place. Yeah if no one says something this time, they're just gonna do the same thing next month

Take the contract and take everything up to the manager. If what you describe is accurate, I wouldnt pay it until it was brought up.

Ok, i'll do that M2G. Thanks so much :)

I have to say i'm a little ticked off about it, and i wouldn't be surprised if the board goes up again or if quite a few boarders leave
