Tough decision that I need your help on!

I have had an on and off dream of keeping my horse at my house. I guess I just set the idea back for awhile because I was doing what's best for my horse. He's green, and me and him needed to stay at our boarding facililty to get him broke. I got to really love the people there. But it's almost becoming TOO much. I don't even feel like there's a connection between me and my horse anymore because of all these people. Don't get me wrong, I love talking and getting advice from them. But there's No me and my horse time. It's never quiet. And me and my horse don't perform well without that connection. It's almost becoming un-enjoyable to go the barn. This girl is constantly putting me down and sarcastically saying " I abuse my horse". I don't care if your joking around, that pisses me off! Anyway, I need your guys help! I can't decide if I should take him home. I'm afraid I'll miss some of my friends, but then again, I can still have them over. And I'm aching for that connection. Tell me how it really is, advice, messages, anything. Also, I don't know if any other teen has dealer with this..but, I feel like having horses at home to keep me busy will "save me". I've been getting really sucked in to the high school life lately, and I feel like god is trying to tell me that he sent me my horse for a reason

I understand the wanting to have a horse at home. I have really been trying to convince my mom for us to move back to our actual house (living with her bf right now) where I could keep my own horse because I like the idea of not having to drive 15 -20 mins everyday or waiting till i can get a ride to go and take care of my horse. I also like to be kept busy.

ya haha the place I'm at now though is fairly good we get picked up after school mondays and wednesdays and then later in the day on saturday or sunday or both days. So while I do get out there alot its usually not just to ride I end up moving horses around helping the younger riders cleaning stalls feeding and turning out other horses. So I do believe being back at home would help me ride more most definitely and the ranch is close enough to ride back to visit anyways :]

Oh and as for the girl I would just politely tell her that you do not need her advice and if she could please keep her comments to herself it would be greatly appreciated. If she doesn't stop go to your BO or just ignor her.

Keeping Horse At House

I dont know how I could live with having my horse at a boarding stable :-) . I just love her to much. So first of all, do you know enough about horses? Ok, so you are going to be told that A LOT, but it is VERY important. If your horse is acting odd- and you are boarding, you can have someones experienced opinion if you should call the vet, or even if you think you know enough, it is always nice to have that second opinion to confirm that they are colicing, or that it isnt just you being crazy thinking your horse is off, and that they really are sick. Also, what about a companion? Do you go on trips often? If so, who will look after your horse while you do? Dont get me wrong, its a lot of fun, and I love it, but if you try it and after a week, you cant handle it, its O.K. try boarding him, maybe at another place. Do you have enough room? Im a very strict about my horse having 10 hours or more of turnout, and when they are in, having constant access to hay and if turned out in dirt are having there be hay. Minimum size for drylot turnout - 80 ft by 180 ft. Typically 2 acres per horse for keeping grass in the pasture  . I totally understand you want that connection with your horse. If keeping your horse at your house doesnt work, look around at where you live, and if anyone was a pasture (even without a fence if they let you/you can put up a fence, and remember there will be two horses- one as companion, or a goat cow sheep or something to keep it company) and ask if you can use it. Also, if anyone has a pasture with an animal in it (cows, horses, sheeps, goats, etc, as long as they dont have horns) they may let you put your horse in it- and then, you wont have to get a buddy for your horse! And also where will you ride? If you dont have access to trails or nice arena, you will need a trailer if you dont have one. Im sorry bout this loooong paragraph to read, but I hope it helps! Please please please message me if you have any more questions, and tell me what you decide!!
Good luck,
Wisper xxx:-)

Sounds like you know the answer to your question already, you need to bring your horse home... Having the "quiet " time to just hang out with your horse is so important to bonding you and your horse, having time to just go outside and brush him without all the craziness of a boarding barn is so nice.
Sure you will miss some of the friend time you had at the barn, but there is nothing stopping you from riding with them again or them coming to your house to ride.
As far as keeping you grounded from the high school life, you again have answered yourself. If you are starting to feel you are not handling life the way you feel you should because of the high school goings on and are getting sucked into things that you don't feel good about, then my suggestion is move your horse home now and get yourself back to where you need to be.
You seem to have a good head on your shoulders and know enough to realize things are not what you want them to be.
Easy fix, bring your horse home and you two will fix yourselves.

Thank you SO much! I have been waiting for someone to at least give me some reassurance that it's a good decision!

Well, when you are as old as I am, life experiences have come and gone raising kids and grandkids.
Glad you found it helpful.
