I have a Welsh Filly, a Section A. She lives out as she is now on turn out. She is getting ready to be brought in. I have a huge problem. I'm a first time horse owner, and never dealt with this particular thing. I've worked with my loan when he had sweat itch and hives but this is new to me, Micia has Mud Rash. It is leaving her with sore legs and horrible scabs. Some times there is pink skin, and it hurts me knowing it's hurting her. I need to know how to get rid of this, and fast! I can remove her from the field, but I have to move her yards. There is no room on the current yard. That is why she is out now. I have tried brushing the legs, but Micia moves them. It hurts her. I tried showering too, but it did not work perfectly...
Read this link. Sounds like you may need the expertise of a vet. And dryer conditions are a must.
