Build Muscle!

Hi,
I have a 10 year old arabian western pleasure mare, Im trying to come up with ways to build and bulk up her muscle. I will take any suggestions in the way of activites, nutrition, supplements, ect.

Backing a horse up on the ground muscles their back and rump up. Back a few circles before and after you ride. Make sure you warm up properly. Get the horse limber and supple. Teach your horse to leg yield and side pass. Walk and trot up hills.

Arabs do not get the bulk muscle mass that the average stock horse breed does. A fit Arab will 'ripple' but sorry - no bulk!

mls is right. Arabians don't 'bulk up' the way a stock breed will, so if you're going for that look you'll be disappointed.

While she'll never bulk up to look like a QH, generally speaking.... trotting builds muscle.

Arabian is the breed.

But is he a Polish, Egyptian or German bred. I have a friend that has a Polish bred gelding and he is built stocky and is very muscular.

Yes, but those are types or strains of Arabian, not separate breeds. They're all Arabians.
