The Evolution of Hair

I was going back over my pictures and realized that my Walking Horse gelding has gone through a bunch of different hairstyles in a short amount of time, so I just thought I'd post them :)

At first he had the really long, stallion-like mane

Then he got his HUGE knot, so I cut it off to this awkward length

Then I dyed it red :)

Then it faded to orage so . . .

I dyed it back to black

Then we took up dressage, so I had to cut it short (it's kinda poofy in the picture)

And yesterday, I had a bad day. I was trimming his mane and he jerked his head and . . . yeah, it was bad. So I shaved it all off. His forelock is really awkward . . .

Awesome!!! His neck now looks very thick in my opinion but, but he is beautiful!

It never occurred to me that you could dye horses' hair. That looks so cool!

Good looking, solid, robust Walking Horse. More like what we had when I was a kid. Wish they were more common today.

I guess dressing up the mane is a girl thing. Guys usually just do their horses hair like we do our own. A good brushing to keep out the knots and cut if needed :))

I think he looks the best roached!

He's a cutie. Looks like a sweetheart.

I love the roached look on him. Looks like you have had a lot of fun with his hair.
