How tall is too tall for reining?

I am getting an APHA Paint in November. I would love to get into reining, but I was told my horse was too tall. He has to be close to 16H. He has super long straight legs. I did post pictures in the conformation critique section. Under Chase N the Gold. Let me know what you think.

My reiner is probably around 15.3...and I'm just saying,your horse doesn't look all that tall!:P

I know he doesn't look tall in those pictures, but in real life he is! There is also an earlier post under the critique section for chase that has him during the summer without a thick coat and well groomed. He looks taller there. His brother has to be at least 5H shorter than him. His dad was 16.2 and mom 15.4

I'd kind of like to know the answer to this too.

Out of world caliber reining horses, what has been the tallest in the winner's circle?

I don't know a whole ton about reining, but I've always been told that you typically want a smaller horse for reining such as 14.2 to 15.1 or something of that nature, since they can do the manevars easier when they are lower to the ground. Would be interested to hear if that is true though.
