Need to finally order skid boots. THere are several kinds out there. My trainer, as well as my friends, both well versed, recommend the open leather ones, as opposed to the neoprene. makes sense to me. In looking at them tho, which is better-the Pards advantage, like these, with the leather.....and a velcro closure Advantage Leather Skid Boots

or the classic equine, which has a plastic type cup? THen the question also is-which is better-buckles or velcro?
Classic Equine Leather Skid Boots

Classic Equine Performance Skid Boots

I lean toward the last one, but also like the Pards.........

Please let me know which you all have used and prefer! Thanks!

I like leather although the neoprene is easier to keep clean (just hose and dry overnight). I would choose the most durable cup you can find. There are now brands that are actually using the same material as bullet proof vests (Cinny's equine legacy has it).

I also prefer velcro. Some may call it flimsy and hate how it sticks to everything but, when you need to jump down to do a quick readjust or quickly remove them due to an emergency of some sort, it's faster and easier with velcro than with buckles, especially for horses who don't stand still.

I have several different ones. I have both of the leather CE skids I also have several neoprene ones like Pro Choice and such.

I like the leather ones the best and of those I like the ones with the Velcro and the horses seem to like them the best also. Although non are left on very long.
