I have a filly that I'm starting this fall, and I was just lookin for some tips about starting her in reining. She is very green only been ridden maybe 8 times... Tips about everything would be great! Posted via Mobile Device
First thing I would do before worrying about any discipline is get all the basics down. Then, before worrying about "reining" I would work on making her very soft and flexible standing, and at all gates. LOTS and LOTS of flexing from saddle, at a walk, jog and lope. This just makes everything easier!
Good post Fowl Play, those are the first steps to training a top notch reining horse. If you do not have an excellent handle on your horse then it makes showing them difficult. That is why it take us 2 years to prepare a NRHA Futurity winner. Total body control is the first step.
