Time to buy new "stuff"-need advice

So, altho I have tons of "stuff"......I am now wanting to get new, specific to reining, with an eye on possibly showing. That said, this "stuff" is not cheap, so I want to do it right the first time, and am looking for a bit of advice, altho I have also consulted my trainer. He is not as into the "pretty" and "match" as I am.

I also have a major store credit from a tack shop, which helps immensely.

So, I have a black horse, 2 white rear stockings. I have SMB Ventech Elite front boots in black I use for every day, but am looking at getting white ones for the fronts for shows. THoughts? Do I need the Elites or can I go with a less expensive SMB?

Schutz reins-3/8" or 1/2? Waterloop ends, and my trainer says soak them in olive oil? That one is new by me.......

Headstall-want a good one I can use every day and for show. I hate switching the bit all the time, and with a Balding, I cannot get 2. Not too "blingy", and my saddle is a Bob's, on the light side of medium oil color with a cream seat, this one:
Bobs Custom KR Reiner 16'' seat QH Bars | eBay

So I am looking at these headstalls:
Rawhide Trimmed Headstalls with Pinwheel Conchos | Horse Tack

OR

Basket Stamped Headstall with Rust/Silver Buckles & Conchos | Horse Tack

Will need a bit hobble to match, depending on which headstall I end up with, as well as a curb.

I want a Yucca Flats blanket, but that will have to wait......For now we have a cornflower blue one and a multi color that looks sort of like a Yucca flats, with blue and red......

Anything else you can think of? Just need to get it all in place before May.

THanks!

Reins? It didn't look like those bridles came with any.

No-they don't-I am getting either 3/8 or 1/2 inch Schutz....they are plain, waterloo-the only difference is the width. I know I like narrow, just not sure which.

I need opinions on which headstall, which reins, black or white boots, and whether they need to be the "elites". I wasn't too clear.....sorry.

I love the second headstall. Its beautiful.

Go with white boots for show. Use a pressure washer after each show to keep them clean. I would go with the elites. They are amazing. But I also has SMB II's that work well for my barrel horses.

I would go with the 1/2 inch reins.

I don't love the SMB IIs (too bulky), nor do I like the IIIs, which are not front/hind specific. I would go for the Elites, in white, like Clare suggested. I also like the second headstall; it looks very classy and I think it'll match your saddle well.

Ok here is what I do. Not sure I would say it is just reining.

I like the Pads that have no color to them. Why can I not remember the name. Big name high price wool pads. Anyway. I like to get the ones that are just the wool pad that way I can get what ever color blanket to go over. They are cheap come is A LOT of colors and paters so is it easy to change them out. Leg gear I like White or off white. This for 2 reasons. White goes with EVERYTHING and my horses are all very very nice fancy turners and white shows this off. This is what I would look to if I was choicing a color for leg gear. Not to match. Bad turners get black good turners get white.

Net show brilde. I have 2 and both are made so that I can make then into a 1 ear 2 ear or brow band brilde. One is rawhide and horse hair and the other is silver. Again depends on the horse which one I will use.

Reins I do not change out reins from show to work. I find that this is very important as it can change the feel. I prefer Shutzs Brothers reins and work tack. Good quality and good price.

Saddles. That almost comes down to a personal things.

Thanks NRHA-Great minds think alike....perhaps? I have a 5 star pad (which is what I think you are referring to, in blackm 3/4" and that is exactly what I do. I use my "pretty" pads over that one. Horse gets comfy, and I get pretty. Everyone wins.

I did order the Schutz reins-that was what my trainer suggested, and I am going to get a one ear headstall-I haven't seen any that can do all 3? That is a new one by me.

I have yet to try my saddle on my own horse, so I hope it works. My friend tried it yesterday and she thought the horn was too high for her. We will see how I like it. If not-the good news is the Bobs sell well.

Thanks for your input-I will get some white front boots.......
