I chipped & dislocated my knee, and was on crutches for six months, losing all the muscle in my left knee. Slowly, I've been building it up, and 4 years down the line it's no better then it was 2 years ago, so I guess I've come to a stop, haha.
I've noticed on my horse, he doesn't bend as well to the right that he does on the left, which I've put down to my knee as I can't balance him round the corner as well because my lower leg is weak. I can't ride him with a whip as he was beaten before I got him and freaks everytime, even if I hold one. I was thinking spurs, but I've never ridden in them and he's not exactly a typical "plod along cob". I've been told that my knee will never return to it's original strength as the ligaments have stretched.
Also, last september I took my horse 3-day eventing at Milton Keynes Eventing Centre. Well, if any of you have been there, you'll know that the dressage is just an open field with the steeple chase jumps in it. As soon as Ed saw that, he took off with me and the only way I could get him to stop was to grab hold of his bit. Because he is such a strong boy, he knows if he locks his neck I have no hope, haha. This was fine doing it, but unfortuately I pulled my shoulder out by this, and now suffer with continuous shoulder pains and find it difficult to pin my right shoulder back how I should. It's really bad as I've been "teaching" my friend on her horse, Dillon, and now she's got the same problem as me because I was training the horse and now he's picked up on it. Any advice on either of the problems will be great. Thanks. =]
