I love gymkhanas on young horses, and even seasoned horses who need refreshed. It makes them think a little more than just the standard barrel and pole pattern.
This last year I found myself without a finished barrel horse and two prospects.
Ruger, just turned four. First gymkhana for seasoning. No videos yet.
My mare, Selena, was a finished reiner and started as a cowhorse before she went to gaming so she took fast. Still a little goofy at times, but took some money easy. Internet is too slow to get me a video to post right now though. Darn foot of snow.
You guys don't look bad at all. You should post around here a little more we don't bite.
Thank you so much! When I can start training her again in February when she's all healed, I expect to get much better! That's a really sweet picture by the way! (:
Thanks ^^ It's nothing super impressive, that was taken at a gentle cruise and I really made him rate back to me because he's a pretty freed up horse.
Okay now I can show you my mare. She's still more into the cow events than she is gaming and in the goofy fling-myself-every-which-direction stage...But when she really focuses, day-um, she can haul and she can turn. We're working on getting her constantly in focus right now though.
Thanks ^^ You guys do too. I've always had at least one finished horse on the string but since my gelding went lame I'm left with a lot of time to mold these two into barrel horses.
Oh and we require more pictures. That's pretty non-negotiable here. XD
I know what you mean, except my current barrel mare is lame.. My finished horse is Dixie, that was just a practice in the video I posted, she usually gets 16s and 17s, except she's getting old so I can't do too much with her and she's technically my sisters. So I wanted to start Precious on barrels and I'm glad I did because she's quite the horse!

I know you aren't asking for critique, but from a barrel racer to another, I've found that the horse generally goes a little slower when you "pump the reins" as it moves the bit in their mouth. I use to do it all the time because the person I learned from it did, and when we both found that out and tried it, we both got better times (on his 1D-2D pony and the 3D mare I was leasing.(:
But..didn't get a chance to get to the computer yet, should have time today to post my runs on Lucky and my trot stakes on ST.(: Posted via Mobile Device
Thanks for letting me know that. But we arent at all trying for speed yet, she gets too hot and totally blows all of her turns, so I was holding her back so she could focus. When I am going for speed though I will definitely keep that in mind, thanks.
