I used to be a member of the GRA (Girl's Rodeo Association) before it became the Women's Professional Rodeo Association.

Bareback bronc was my event, and I held seventh place in the country for a time.

There are still All Women's Rodeo, complete with rough stock events. Some women ride two-handed riggings and some places only time for 6 seconds. Many, like me, preferred one-handed riggings.

Do a search for Jan Youren. She was fantastic. There are several others that ride in open rodeos against the fellows. I did. I never cared who else was competing. I was always competing against myself. To do it again. To make a better ride.

There are plenty of recent videos of female rough stock riders, too.
Wallaby and Tee Cees mum like this.

Hehehe, I did back in the day bareback and saddle bronc (my daddy was a saddle bronc rider) even thought about getting on a bull once since my brother was a bull rider. Changed my mind after he walked around for weeks with three broken ribs. Doctor said didn't that hurt, he says Nah, just wrapped it up and kept on riding. My brother wasn't so bright when he was young but many bull riders weren't back then. I know lots of girls who did get on those bulls and broncs though... we were all crazy back then. But did we have some fun.... yes we did. Could be why my old back and knees hurt so much these days. I don't recommend it unless you are young, a bit on the wild side and willing to deal with the pain later in life.
